Hi, I’m Sue Mason, and you may meet me on your Insight tour through Switzerland.
I have over seven years experience as a tour director, during which time I have discovered some of this country’s best kept secrets. One in particular is the amazing tiny church of St Michael in the Rock at Raron. It’s not on the itinerary but if time permits, I always try pop it into the Country Roads of Switzerland tour for that little bit extra.
Switzerland is a beautiful country filled with spectacular scenery. I never tire of the awesome Alpine peaks, the picturesque towns and villages that hug the shores of Lake Geneva and the tranquil lake at St Moritz. Simply stunning - every time.
However, it’s not just the scenery that stuns in Switzerland. The local fare is also superb. My favourite dish is a sweet treat called Topfenstrudel that is served with either vanilla sauce or cream. This is a kind of cheese-cake strudel which must be eaten very fresh and cannot be found anywhere outside of the Alpine area.
When packing your luggage, don’t forget to throw in a top of the range travel adapter. Even within the relatively small area of the Alps there is a bewildering array of sockets to cope with so be sure to buy a really good adapter with lots of different possibilities.
Also, many of the hotels featured on our Switzerland program have swimming pools, so remember to bring along a swimming costume for a refreshing dip at the end of each day.
The best thing about travelling with Insight is that once you’re packed, you can relax, knowing that all your arrangements have been organised for you. All you have to do is to enjoy yourself and be ready to have a great holiday. |
