If there\u2019s one thing nearly every traveler looks forward to in Spain, it\u2019s the tapas.<\/p>\n

The term \u2018tapas\u2019 is a Spanish word that refers to small dishes usually served with drinks at a bar. When you hop around from tapas bar to tapas bar, you\u2019re \u2018tapear\u2019 (bar hopping). While you can say the word tapas in Spain and most people will know what you mean, it\u2019s good to know that there are other Spanish words that define tapas in specific regions.<\/p>\n

In the Basque Country, for instance, they call tapas \u201cpintxos\u201d; so in San Sebastian, you\u2019d look for tapas like tarta de queso<\/em>, boquerones<\/em>, and anchoa frita<\/em> under the pintxos part of the menu.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cazuelas<\/em> can refer to another type of tapas which are small sauced foods served in the traditional cazuelas bowl. Then there\u2019s cosas de picar<\/em>, which translates to \u201csnack things\u201d, that are different finger foods served at some tapas bars.<\/p>\n
