Later, join your Tour Director for a Welcome Reception and an opportunity to get to know each other over a pleasant evening of dinner and wine. Afterwards, search for the most spectacular show on earth - the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). See the breathtaking night sky filled with an array of different colours. Please note: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings, therefore, cannot be guaranteed.
South Shore Adventure to Vík
(Relaxed Start) Take a journey through the stunning landscape of Iceland‘s south coast to visit its newest geothermal heat and electric power station at Hellisheiðavirkjun. Continue on to witness the majesty of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Stand awestruck by the beauty and powerful force of these thundering waterfalls before venturing on to view more phenomena. After seeing the magnificent Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes, arrive in the welcoming communtiy of Vík. Later, perhaps enjoy another chance to go in search of the mystical Northern Lights?
The Golden Circle to Flúðir
(Relaxed Start) Embark on a day of discovery around Iceland's Golden Circle, taking in some of the famous landmarks this magical country has to offer. Your first stop is in Fontana to visit a fascinating geothermal bakery. Sample the delicious rye bread, dug hot from the ground and served with butter. You will then experience the exploding hot springs at Geysir and the mighty Gullfoss Waterfalls – the Icelandic equivalent of Niagara Falls. Next stop is Friðheimar, to find out about the processes in Icelandic greenhouse horticulture. Visit a family-run vegetable farm that specialises in tomatoes. Tour their greenhouses and sample the sweet, unique flavour of their lovingly-grown crop. Continue to your hotel in Flúðir, where there is again a chance to look to the night sky to watch nature's theatre unfold.
Thingvellir, Borgarnes and Húsafell
(Relaxed Start) Continue on to Thingvellir, where the first meeting of the Icelandic parliament was held in 930 AD. This remarkable natural site lies on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge line, where the American and European tectonic plates meet. Continue on the trail of Viking warrior and poet Egill Skallagrímsson to Borgarnes. En route, stop at the pretty village of Reykholt, home of poet and medieval scholar Snorri Sturluson. On arrival in Borgarnes, learn about Iceland's history with a visit to the fascinating Icelandic Settlement Centre. Journey on through glorious landscapes taking in views of the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls and Deildartunguhver - Europe's most powerful hot spring.
(Relaxed Start) Journey back to the capital - Reykjavík, where sightseeing shows you the old town centre, the 19th century parliament building, Höfði House (the location of the 1986 Reykjavík Summit meeting of presidents Ronald Reagan of the United States and Mikhail Gorbachev of the U.S.S.R.), the colourful harbour and the modern, landmark church - the Hallgrímskirkja. The afternoon is at leisure.
The Blue Lagoon
(Relaxed Start) Relax and enjoy your final day with a visit to Reykjavík's Blue Lagoon. Surrounded by lava fields and snow-capped mountains, the Lagoon is a wonder of nature and offers a unique experience for both body and soul. Choose to bathe in the pleasantly warm mineral-rich geothermal waters, or perhaps enjoy a water massage or spa treatment? Facilities also include an indoor geothermal pool, a winter garden and restaurants. With your new-found friends, toast the culmination of your fascinating journey of discovery with a celebratory cocktail. The rest of the day is free, perhaps spend time relaxing in a sidewalk cafe?
Your Icelandic adventure comes to an end, with transfers arriving at Reykjavík's Keflavík Airport at 05:00 and 12:30.

Trip: I felt we saw a lot of the country for the short length of the trip.
Service: We have traveled with insight before so where aware of their great service.

Trip: Overall an excellent trip.. except someone didn’t turn on those Northern Lights. ;) I think the problem lies at the government level... no fault of Insight!
Service: I can only offer 5 stars... why? Because they don’t offer 6.

Trip: Tour allowed us to see so much of Iceland & learned a great deal of the country.
Service: Tour was well organized. Guide was very attentive & knowledgable. Saw so much in the tour.

Trip: Very interesting tour of a unique country. We saw and heard a good overview of life on this small but wonderful island. Well worth the visit.
Service: The guide was very good. She helped us out with extras like places to eat and using the local city buses. She was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of extra time making sure everything went well. She spent her nights watching the sky for the allusive night lights and was very concerned that there wasn't any. We were disappointed for sure but she tried hard, not her fault. Our driver was excellent also. He had to drive through some really bad weather, snow packed icy roads, but he got us to all the destinations for the tour. It was our 4th Insight tour and all have been wonderful.

Trip: GREAT HOLTELS EXCEPT FOR THE ONE IN THE CITY WHICH WAS TO FAR AWAY FROM DOWNTOWN. I DO NOT KNOW IF I WILL TAKE INSIGHT AGAIN BECUASE I DO NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO CHOICE OPTIONS ON THE DINNER, (THIS WAS VERY BAD, THIS IS WHAT YOU GET, TAKE IT OR GO HUNGRY, I DID NOT EAT DINNER FOR TWO DAYS) AND IT DID NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING TO DRINK EXCEPT WATER.
Service: OUR TOUR DIRECTOR WAS FANTASTIC WITH A GREAT KNOWLEDGE AND LOVE FOR HER COUNTRY.

Trip: Great. Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights were obvious highlights, for sure.
Service: Heidi, our tour guide, was fantastic. A native of Iceland makes a real difference. Sorry to hear that Insight will be bringing in people from the U.S. and the UK to lead tours of Iceland. Doesn't make sense unless you factor in the ability to save $$ by making this move. Sad.

Trip: Excellent sightseeing and hotels. Itinerary was too busy the first four days with not enough to do the last two days.
Service: Heiddis our tour director and Jon our bus driver made our memories of Iceland as delightful as they were. Both went out of their way to make sure our tour was a seamless as possible. Jon drove the bus safely in high wind and heavy rain while Heiddis told us about the area with stories from her grandmother of trolls and elves.

Trip: Lovely hotels chosen, visits and excursions well thought out.
Service: Both tour guide AND coach driver were fantastic, both very knowledgeable and helpful with details, problems that arose and questions posed. Nothing was too much trouble at any time. This was our first time with Insight Vacations and will definitely look to use them again.

Trip: Super interesting country. Unfortunately, because of clouds and low solar activity, we did not get to see the northern lights. Didn't matter though as we still had a great time.
Service: I would absolutely travel with Insight again. This was my third trip with Insight and it has always been very good.....not a lot to complain about. I have already recommended Insight to many of my friends.
