  1. Day 1

    Your Journey Begins

Board your overnight flight to Europe (please ask about our great deals).

  2. Day 2

    Welcome to Cairo

A country rich in wonders and mysteries awaits you. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

  3. Day 3

    The Egyptian Museum and Citadel

Begin your city sightseeing with your Egyptologist at the world-famous Egyptian Museum. Starring among its attractions is the amazing treasure recovered from Tutankhamun's tomb. Sightseeing continues at the Citadel where you enjoy breathtaking views over the whole city. Salah El-Din started the Citadel in the 12th century, but it owes its present outline to Mohammed Ali, whose Great Alabaster Mosque is the next stop. Later, you will have free time to enjoy as you wish. In the evening, get to know your Tour Director and fellow guests over a Welcome Drink at the hotel. Afterwards, take your seats at the magical Sound & Light Show at the Great Pyramids which literally illuminates the history of Giza - an unforgettable introduction to the world of ancient Egypt.

  4. Day 4

    The Great Pyramids of Giza

Gain a deeper understanding of the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World during a visit to Giza with your Egyptologist. Meet the enigmatic Sphinx crouching at the foot of Chephrenís Causeway and venture inside one of the magnificent pyramids. Nearby lies Memphis, capital of the Old Kingdom, where you can see the colossal statue of Rameses II and the great Alabaster Sphinx. Continue to Sakkara to view the Step Pyramid of Zoser I; dating from 2,686 BC, it's the oldest in the world. Enjoy free time in the afternoon.

  5. Day 5

Fly to Luxor, Cruise the Nile

Fly to Luxor and visit the huge temple complex of Karnak. Walk through the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes to stand among the columns of the Hypostyle Hall. Transfer to your cruise ship. After lunch on-board, visit Luxor Temple which was unearthed by Mariette in the 1860s.

  6. Day 6 - Relaxed Start

Valley of the Kings to Edfu

(Relaxed Start) Travel by air-conditioned coach to the west bank of the Nile to see the Colossi of Memnon, and visit both the Temple of Hatshepsut and Valley of the Kings, where many pharaohs were buried. Next, visit a working bakery and witness the local artisans making authentic Egyptian bread. Return to your cruise boat and sail via the Esna Lock to Edfu.

  7. Day 7

From the Temple of Horus to Aswan

Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, dedicated to the Falcon God. After exploring this magnificent site, sail to Kom Ombo to visit the only temple in Egypt dedicated to two gods: the crocodile-headed Sobek and falcon-headed Horus the Elder. Cruise to Aswan and in the evening, don your galabeyas (traditional Egyptian attire), for a fun-filled Egyptian dinner and galabeya party.

  8. Day 8 - Relaxed Start

Aswan’s High Dam and Nile Felucca

(Relaxed Start) In the morning, visit the Aswan High Dam and Granite Quarries to see the enormous Unfinished Obelisk. Travel by motorboat to the Temple of Isis, rising from the waters of the Nile on the Island of Philae. Later, on a traditional Nile Felucca, meet a sailor and learn the art of sailing this ancient craft. As the sun starts to fade, enjoy colonial-style high tea at the historic Old Cataract Hotel.

  9. Day 9 - Relaxed Start

Free Time in Aswan and back to Cairo

(Relaxed Start) In the morning, disembark your cruise ship and enjoy time at leisure in Aswan. Why not join an optional experience by air to the magnificent Temples of Rameses II at Abu Simbel? Otherwise, spend the morning as you wish. There are many points of interest to enjoy; the Botanic Gardens, Elephantine Island, the Aga Khan Mausoleum, or soak up the African atmosphere in the Nubian bazaar. Later, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Cairo for the night.

  10. Day 10 - Relaxed Start

    Depart Cairo

(Relaxed Start) Your journey ends after breakfast with transfers to the airport.

Trip: Saw everything I needed to see

Service: Ahmad the travel guide was amazing. Everyone on the ship was amazing. I didn’t like the ship. No amenities. Nothing to do. Very boring

  • 11 January, 2018

Trip: Great highlights all the way

Service: Egypt tour director and guide was superb!

  • 09 January, 2018

Trip: The only thing that could be better would be to slow it down a little. Amazing sights and sites, but the pace was pretty intense with a lot of 3 a.m. morning...particularly when the river is low and you have to bus from Kom Ombo to Aswan. But truly, we loved it all!

Service: I love Insight Vacations! This was our second trip with this amazing company, which handles every detail flawlessly. The travel coordinator met us at the Cairo Airport, took us to our hotel, checked us in, and even got us an upgrade in rooms so my husband could have the view he wanted. The next day he introduced us to our guide and we met our small group, aged 24 to 70. This guide was our best ever, and we had an excellent one on our last Insight trip, so that's saying a lot. Wael Elel's English was beautifully understandable, with an accent more British or Australian than Arabic, so he was incredibly easy to understand. He traveled with us the entire trip, explaining history, culture, language, economics, food, and whatever else we wanted to know about, knowledgeably, thoroughly, and with a sense of humor. His timing for every monument we visited had us ahead of the crowds and able to enjoy spectacular lighting, as temples transition from nature light to spot lighting. He even got us to a lighted history of the pyramids of Giza show in time for front row seats. Overall, Wael made us feel like we were traveling in a family, with warmth and care that made us feel appreciated, welcome, and somewhat pampered. He also arranged extras whenever we wanted them, like camel rides and hot air ballooning, and though these extras were not provided by Insight, he found reputable providers, negotiated the prices, and gave us tips on tipping and safety. Accommodations on our trip were, as usual with Insight, outstanding! Food was delicious with plenty of variety at our hotel and on our Nile River boat cruise, and our tour guide & coordinator had substantial breakfast boxes made up for us whenever we wanted an early start. Those boxes usually had enough food to cover lunch, too. We had arranged our flights on our own and had significant issues with Royal Jordanian, when they unexpectedly rescheduled one leg or our return trip, throwing our entire schedule off. Even though it wasn't their responsibility, the Egyptian Insight staff took over contacting them and trying to sort out our problem for us. That was above and beyond their responsibilities and very much appreciated. In short, if you want a superb experience travelling, educationally, socially, in comfort and style, I would always choose Insight.

Trip: Lots to see and absolutely spectacular but Abu Simbel is over-rated.

Service: The tour director’s knowledge was excellent. The visit to the pyramids (inside) was better than what I had imagined it to be. The rooms on the cruise need to be refurbished and the bathrooms were quite tiny. The only negative I would say was that we had to tip for almost everything except for the porters in the hotel (not cruise) and were constantly told by our TD- could you please “take care” of this/that etc.- boat rides, felucca, Staff on the cruise. This should ideally be included or be taken in advance by the customer in the form of tour payment.

Trip: Got to see a lot of things very well put together pretty much the same trip I took 10 years ago

Service: It was my second Egypt trip it was a very good trip everybody did a good job I was just amazed at how much more trashy Egypt was you think they would take a little more Pride and pick up their garbage and take better care of the things that make them so much money overall though it was a great experience

Trip: The tour was great the small group made the trip much easier to learn about the area and better to interact with the tour giude

Service: The customer service was excellent, although the plane connections we’re not the greatest no one should have a 4 hour at the airport than a 4hour plane ride with another 7 hour layover than a 9 hour ride to another 4 hour layover

Trip: The itinerary covered everything of importance and could not have been better in my opinion.

Service: Tour director was exceptional which made the tour the best one I have been on with insight. I would not hesitate in recommending this tour. However, the flight home was the worst Insight has ever coordinated. Unless better connection time is found by Insight I would not use this service nor would I recommend it be used by anyone.
