    FABULOUS TRIP

6/2/2017 Richard Wilder, The Villages, United States

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Spain and Portugal with Insight. This was our first bus tour. From the moment we started our Tour Director, Fillipo, was involved with us and our needs, always working to ensure our complete satisfaction. He showed wonderful care and concern for us. We also liked the way he followed behind during the local tours to make certain we did not get separated from the rest - like a shepherd rounding up his strays!! We would never have seen as much as we did or enjoyed as much local cuisine and culture on our own. Our bus driver, Felipe, was also a wonderful asset to the trip. He drove magnificently and was always, courteous, friendly and willing to help out. We also met a lot of wonderful folks from different parts of the world. Great Job, well done!!!! We will gladly use Insight again. Richard and Pixie Wilder

    Wow Trip

    5/29/2017 Angela Atkin, Null, Australia

Husband and self are just back from touring Spain and Portugal with Dominic and 38 others. Our tour guide, Dominic, was sensational. He double checked all our arrangements and everything went so smoothly. He anticipated all the little issues in the hotels and, as a result, we had none!. He made all our journeys fun and educational without sounding like lectures- more like a tv serial that kept us waiting for the next episode. The hotels were all very acceptable and the breakfasts were yummy. We would never have appreciated all we saw, or even got to see all the places we visited without all the planning and input from insight and , especially, Dominic. We had a great time, met lovely people, walked our legs off and ate and drank very well. Thank you insight and thank you to Dominic. Regards Angela Atkin

    Spain Portugal May 2017

5/28/2017 Joellen Jimerson, Yuba City, United States

Bravo! Absolutely stunning landscapes, beautiful weather and all knowing, smiling "Don't worry be happy" tour leader Dominic. We had a wonderful trip, I can not say a bad word about the tour. We not only had a wonderful tour leader but the people on our tour bus were wonderful. I feel we made some friends for life. And you can not forget our wonderful bus driver Jose. He guided his bus through some pretty tough places, sometimes we all inhaled thinking it would help us squeeze through the narrow streets between cars. There was always another town, cathedral or square that we didn't think could surpass the the last one but did! Amazing. I can not say Thank You enough.

    5/19/2017 Evelyn Mclean, COOROIBAH, Australia

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour throughout Spain and Portugal. Guide Toni was extremely knowledgable, courteous and helpful at all times. Bus driver (main) was excellent. Would have enjoyed a little extra time in Porto. Organised tours were on the whole extremely good. A few less included dinners would have been appreciated. Extra leg room in buses was great.

    Fantastic tour director

10/17/2016 Mary Cross, Weidman, United States

Our trip through Spain and Portugal was great and we especially appreciated Lola Torija, our tour director. Lola was knowledgeable, helpful, humorous, and always positive. She made long bus trips seem short but respected our need for quiet time. Lola was a problem solver and nothing ever seemed too much for her to handle. From forgotten Kindles to adaptor plugs to broken hotel showers, Lola was unfailingly effective. She is truly a jewel and made our trip one to be treasured.

    Best tour to date

7/14/2016 David Kosack, Pascoe Vale, Australia

Without a doubt Chris and I would rate our Best of Spain and Portugal tour as our best yet. The accommodation and meals were all first class and the scenery spectacular. Our experience was further enhanced by our tour director, Brad Dick, whose "insight " and knowledge of each of the areas we visited provided us with a better understanding of the history and people of the region. This tour is certainly one of our most memorable holiday experiences. Well done Insight.

    11/20/2015 Stephen Carn, Plympton, Australia

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour .. everything went like clockwork. The tour director (Jacquie Pangman) was excellent:- very knowledgeable, friendly and always easily accessible. The coach driver (Rui) had a pleasant manner, and was an excellent driver. Loved all the places we visited; there was a good balance of included and optional tours and free time.

Highly recommend Spain and Portugal and loved Gibraltar too. We have traveled with Insight before and plan to travel with them again in the near future.

    10/30/2015 Carol Leary, Manunda, Australia

I thought Spain and Portugal were fascinating countries to visit. Bus was comfortable and driver was excellent. A couple of long stint drives a bit tiring. Tour director was excellent and the people were nice.

    wonderful experience

9/29/2015 Richard Gay, Belmont (CA), United States

Had a great vacation. Tours were excellent, Out tour director Dan was the greatest. He was 5 star and made the tour a memorable one. The people on our tour could not have been better, it seemed we all enjoyed each other and came from all corners of the world. It was a little hectic at times with the itinerary but well worth the sacrifice of a tight schedule. The locations we visited and the hotels were very good. insight does a nice job.

    Another memorable holiday

    9/25/2015 Estelito Faleiro, Thornhill, Canada

We were very impressed with the high level of service we received on this holiday. Our tour director, Toni and coach driver, Rui went the extra mile to ensure that everything went smoothly. They were both awesome. The local guides gave us a closer understanding of the churches, cathedrals, museums visited. The architecture of the many buildings is unique - the cobbled streets, plazas, restaurants... As well, our fellow passengers were a very lively, friendly cohesive group. We signed up for all the optional tours which added to our overall experience. As an aside, we chose Insight Vacations because we were very happy with our European holiday in 1990, and still cherish very fond memories and friendships. Many thanks. We look forward to future holidays with Insight Vacations. Estelito & Teresa Faleiro September 25, 2015

A great Tour Director makes a great trip

7/9/2015 Stephenie Strayer, Etters, United States

We had a wonderful experience. John Chappell was a professional, knowledgeable and fun tour director. His suggestions for sites/meals were right on. We left Spain/Portugal with a new found love for this region of the world. If I could make 1 suggestion, it would be to conduct city overview tours upon arrival to the city. That would help people feel more comfortable finding their ways around. I look forward to returning!

    Trip to Spain and Portugal

7/9/2015 Thea Fleck, Mccordsville, United States

I was traveling with my 2 granddaughters and we had a wonderful time. Our travel guide was John Chappel (spelling). He really made the history of the area come alive. As an American traveling with Canadians and Australians - it was like having a second tour tacked on. The people were so interesting and they were willing to share about their area of their country. I think over half the people on the trip had traveled with Insight before. That speaks highly of Insight. Now I see why they have signed up again. Need to say a special thanks to the bus driver Anthonio (spelling). He was so courteous and very helpful to all of the passengers. Though we did not see all of Spain and Portugal I had the feeling I experienced most of the regions. I like all my trips to be very educational and this trip was over the top. The granddaughters were thanking me everyday for being them on this trip. Thank you to all. Thea Fleck

Spain and Portugal 16 day tour

6/27/2015 Debora Daniel, Dunlap, United States

Dan(Daniel) Malhoit was the best tour guide I have ever experienced! He is incredibly knowledgeable, upbeat, VERY attentive to everyone's needs (picked up super glue for me to fix my sunglasses with), just SUPER! I would use Insight again, based solely on the quality of the tour guide alone. We used a regular tour bus to go to 1 event and it "drove home" how much better the Insight buses are with the extra leg room. I will never pick a tour group with a bus that seats 50, EVER! The hotels varied, from excellent to okay, with the majority above average to excellent, in Madrid in particular. I prefer the hotels within walking distance of "old town"/historic areas but I also appreciate the tour company balancing cost with safety and other issues in picking locations. I very much appreciate the change in times of visiting the Alahambra 😄, and the company paying attention to times of visiting the various sites so we were there during less crowded times in general. It's those small, or big, things that make the trip smooth and wonderful. Breakfasts in hotels were great. I'm not a really adventurous eater, so some of the included dinners were great for atmosphere but so-so on food. I do appreciate that they want you to experience the local culture though. The weather was great, not sure I can attribute that to Insight though! We had a great group of people on tour, at least half Aussies, no one running late, no problems with seat rotation. People have asked me what my favorite place was and I can't give an answer! All the stops were great! I would love to leave tomorrow with another Insight tour! I honestly don't think I could have asked for a more enjoyable trip! I can not say enough good things about our tour guide and the whole Insight experience!

    A wonderful holiday

    6/23/2015 Gary Gibson, Rockingham, Australia

My Best of Spain and Portugal Insight Vacation commencing in Madrid on the 31st May 2015 was a fantastic experience. The Insight organization, itinerary, coach, hotels etc were fantastic and could not be faulted. Our Tour Director, Jacqueline Pangman was wonderful. She made contact with me twice before the tour via email. Her organization, explanations of what we needed to do, what we would be doing and the history of Spain and Portugal was extremely professional. The optional excursions were wonderful and well worth doing. Jacqueline seemed to worry about us all and the fact she teamed me (a single male) up with other travelers helped make my trip a wonderful experience and was appreciated. At all times I felt safe with Hugo our driver. He was extremely competent and professional. I am looking forward to my next Insight Vacation. Gary Gibson

Great trip to Spain and Portugal

6/6/2015 Gary Sisco, Deland, United States

Wonderful trip. Everything was as good or better as one could expect. Our tour guide, Emma, was well organized and thoughtful and her little "flourishes", and info about the areas we were going thru were a very nice touch that enhanced the flavor of the trip. Manuel was a very good driver and very helpful and a great member of the team that made sure we all had a great time. The hotels were well located so there were plenty of bars and cafes within easy walking distance. The dine a round dinner restaurant was particularly outstanding as were all the breakfasts. Lastly, the entire 40 person group was friendly, respectful of each other, and always on time, with that and the wonderful Insight personnel and local guides and the beautiful scenery, was a great trip. Can't wait for the next insight vacation !

Spain and Portugal in a nutshell

6/1/2015 Judy Perry, Greeley, United States

We saw so much of the countries of Spain and Portugal that we have always heard about. It is like a history, geography and social studies whirlwind tour of the area. We loved our guide, Dawn. She made everything interesting while keeping us all happy and relaxed. The hotels were great and the bus quite roomy and comfortable. No day felt like too much driving because of the well planned stops.

    The best of Spain

    5/27/2015 Christine Aidney, Redcliffe, Australia

The Best of Spain & Portugal tour was great. We had a great Tour guide - Toni - whose experience with the Company showed through in many ways. He had the routine of early wake up call, bags out and breakfast down pat and this resulted in our tour bus being one of the first to get to the places of interest and thus avoiding the queues. His knowledge of Spain & Portugal was fantastic and his advice on what extras to do was extremely helpful. The tour was well balanced with 1 night and 2 night stops and our bus driver was excellent. The bus itself was extremely comfortable and all the hotels were at least 4* and well positioned at each stop we made.

    Spain and Potugal

5/12/2015 Judy Esman, Portage, United States

If I could change anything I would have liked the option of going to a Bull fight. I know many don't want this but I would have gone. It is such a part of Spain. I'm sorry to have missed it. Our tour director, Lola, made our trip. We had a wonderful group and she just pulled together as a family. I know I have made life long friends. I would suggest that all groups begin by introducing themselves. I tend to learn the names faster that way. I loved the bus and the WIFI on board. It's the first time it has worked for me. Antonio was our bus driver and he was great. As far as I am concerned he has the toughest job. Great trip.

    Daniels Great adventure

    5/11/2015 Wayne Bray, Lakelands, Australia

I have travelled with Insight before, and mentioned this to friends, saying what a great time we had experienced. When we started to plan this holiday, those friends agreed to join us, and they like us have again, enjoyed a wonderful Insight experience. The Tour director Daniel was outstanding. His commitment to the wellbeing and enjoyment of his passengers was first class. His knowledge of the toured areas was exceptional, and his recommendations were always well received. The driver Manuel was a true gentlemen, who made everyone so welcome and safe. His driving skills were outstanding, as were the other drivers used on the tour. The local guides used were well chosen and their knowledge and guidance was well appreciated by all. All in all another first rate Insight experience. One that we shall remember for a long time. We definitely look forward to our next Insight vacation.

We recently completed the best of Spain and Portugal tour we had a wonderful time ,great group of people we travelled with ...our driver and tour guide were full of information and were very professional at all times. Spain and Portugal are lovely countries and very worth going to see ........ The only draw back with a bus tour of any kind really is the limited free time in certain places due to the required schedule ..... But that stimulates you to return to those places at another time. This is our second tour with Insight ...the bus is comfortable and the majority of hotels were well situated and of high quality. The dinner in Porto at the hotel we stayed was a tad below average but really the only negative on the trip.Thankyou to Insight for a holiday worth doing!

    BEST OF SPAIN & PORTUGAL 15 /06/2014

8/9/2014 Maria Grazia Pirrottina, Mount Waverley, Australia

My apologies for the lateness of this response. We have only arrived back in Australia 10 days ago and unfortunately got hit with a cold/virus from which we are still trying to recover. I would like to express our complete satisfaction with the Best of Spain & Portugal tour booked. My husband and I were first time tour travellers, as we usually prefer to travel independently by car - but after our last successful experience with Insight we would not hesitate to book another Insight Tour for our future travels. The hotels used - except Husa Reina Victoria in Valencia - were all comfortable, offering modern facilities and of very good standard. Breakfasts were offering a good choice and were plentiful throughout. All meals included in the tour were most satisfactory. The optional tours offered were definitely worth taking if one wanted to cover as much as possible of the country in the limited amount of time. They did however make the touring programme very intense and at time a bit too exhausting. They were all tempting and one would feel to be missing out by not taking them but they would also detract from the time allowed at each destination thus allowing to enjoy each stay at a more leisurely pace. Given the size of the countries visited, I feel that, ideally, the tour should have allowed for an extra 3/4 days by extending some of the 2 nights stay to 3 and some of the overnights to 2 nights. We covered a lot of ground in a relatively short amount of time, cramming a huge amount of information and sights in our minds making it bit difficult to memorise and absorb all that we had learnt and seen in such a condensed programme. Perhaps the photos will bring us back clearer memories for us to treasure in future! I realise the tour was only a taste of Spain and Portugal and what we did was merely an introduction to the two countries that certainly deserve to be revisited more into depth. I wish to highly recommend our Tour Director - Dan Mailhiot - who proved to be an excellent communicator, extremely well conversed with the history and customs of the countries and conducted the tour in a very professional and pleasant manner. The driver, Eugenio, who very skilfully drove us around safefully, helped out with our luggage and was always pleasant and helpful. The local guides were all very knowledgeable although it took a bit of time to get used to the individual accents! The extra leg room provided on the coach certainly made the journey more comfortable. We were fortunate to encounter a very good bunch of fellow travellers, mostly Americans and Canadians with - to my surprise - only a handful of Australians, and rotating the seats was never a problem. We all shared a great time together and I am sure we all went back to our respective countries feeling enriched by the in depth knowledge on the history, culture and political scene of Spain and Portugal acquired during the two weeks of our tour. I would like to thank Insight Holidays for providing me with the opportunity of acquiring a personal on one of their tours and extending to myself and my husband an industry rate. I certainly feel more confident in selling Insight Tours and would not hesitate to continue recommending this product in future. Thanking you, Kind regards, Maria Pirrottina Travelcall Pty.Ltd.

    Amazing Experience

7/29/2014 Noel Downie, Tuross Head, Australia

My wife (Rita) and I experienced something spectacular and amazing on our tour of Spain / Portugal. Jacqueline (our tour director) could not have done anything more to ensure our trip reached such great heights. She is unique!! Jacqui went above and beyond our expectations during the 15 days touring. She ensured everyone was comfortable and took time to speak to us all on the coach every day to see if there was anything that needed to be done. Jacqui's anticipation to satisfy all our needs was outstanding. Hopefully all your tour directors / leaders are equal to or at least modeled on Jacqui. We had a ball with the team and the tour had so many magnificent highlights. Thank you Insight Vacations so much! Noel & Rita Downie

    Best tour director

7/17/2014 Maxine Greene, Tehachapi, United States

I enjoyed my recent tour of Spain. The hotels and locations were great. The city tour directors did a good job. We had agood group, compatible and fun loving. Our tour director, Elena, was always upbeat and very informative. All combined made for a good time. I was so impressed with our tour director, Elena, that on the last day I got up early and composed the following, which I then read on the bus after our last dinner together. I believe it expressed the feelings of everyone. A TRIBUTE TO ELENA Have you ever been to Spain Masses of golden sunflowers on the plain with Insight Tours you must go To see orchards of olive trees grow Palaces and castles everywhere The stories Elena with us did share At telling the history she is a whiz Informative, entertaining and helpful she is As our tour guide we all claim Elena Lopez Carre is the best tour director in Spain

7/17/2014 Kathleen Peterson, Westlake Village, United States

We had an absolute fabulous time on this tour. Daniel Mailhout was an exceptional tour guide. We did the majority of the side trips and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would highly recommend this tour. The hotels were exceptional. The Costa Del sol portion was like a vacation "within a vacation" so to speak! I researched everything extensively before I went, and was amazed by everything that I saw and experienced, like it was the first time I had heard of it! The trip to Our Lady of Fatima and Lisbon's side trips were incredibly beautiful and touching.

One Less Item on our Bucket List

6/29/2014 William Kirschner, Broomall, United States

We have wanted to visit these 2 countries for a long time. Glad we finally made it. I was completely satisfied with all accommodations. Meals were just great. probably too much food but I guess its the way it is done there. I am rather tall so I was pleasantly surprised by the leg room in the coaches. Makes travel much more pleasant than on other tours I have been on. My wife simply loved the mimosas for breakfast. The welcome reception was the best. Gibraltar was special to me as I landed an airplane there in my past life. Loved Fatima, Montserrat & the Black Madonna, and a chance to take a swim in the Mediterranean at Costa del Sol. And finally, my highest praise for Simon, our tour guide. His knowledge and presentation were the best. Regards, Arlene & Bill Kirschner

6/29/2014 Inn Wei Mok, Lilli Pilli, Australia

The two weeks passed too quickly. Luckily we spent two days in Madrid prior to the tour or else we would have missed the best of Madrid. But then, those places were not on the tour list. Lots to see in Madrid so highly recommend some free time there. Everything went like clockwork on tour. Our Director Marc was excellent, so was the driver. Would have preferred that some of the optional experiences be included as part of the tour even if we have to pay more for the tour. Hotels excellent. Can't please everyone all the time and I think overall Insight did a sterling job!

The bus was spacious and comfortable and our drivers were courteous and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed John's commentary as we traveled from place to place and the local guides gave us interesting presentations on each city. The hotels were first rate and each stay was pleasant. An Excellent Tour

5/22/2014 Carol Jones, Frenchs Forest, Australia

While 15 days is certainly not enough time to get to know all about a country our 15 day tour of Spain and Portugal was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend it to anyone with 15 days to spare and who wants to see many of the highlights of these beautiful countries. The bus was spacious, comfortable and our driver took great care to ensure our tour was a safe one. The Hotels (particularly Melia Group) were excellent and well positioned to see the important sights. The countryside, olive groves, orange orchards etc. were picturesque and the historic small walled towns were clean, tidy and well maintained. Simply a joy to meander up and down the narrow cobbled streets. You have to put this tour on your 'bucket list' as not to be missed. We had a great group from all over the world and Maria our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly and went out of her way to ensure the group all enjoyed themselves.

Super Tour with a great tour director and fantastic driver.

    5/2/2014 Mary Johnston, Nepean, Canada

This was a great tour, even though it was very busy. We chose to do all the optional experiences and really think that some of the optional experiences should be part of the basic tour, e.g. the trip to Segovia or Monserrat. The hotels, with one exception, were very good and close enough to the centre of the cities so that we could walk around and get the flavour of the city on our own. Our Tour Director was great and could explain the sights we were seeing and the economics and culture along the way. He was very organized and everything worked like clockwork. Our driver was also very good. We always felt safe in his capable hands for all the kilometers we traveled. We chose this trip for the sights and locations that were included and were not disappointed.

A Wonderful Tour of Spain and Portugal

10/28/2013 Christopher Redondo, Simi Valley, United States

Insight Vacation's "Best of Spain and Portugal" tour we and two close couple friends just completed this October exceeded our expectations! Our tour guide, Brad, was superb: knowledgeable, funny, enthusiastic, well-prepared and very concerned about our group's well-being. The group itself was just the right size and got along well. The bus was very comfortable and the driver was amazingly skilled. The hotels were beautiful and the rooms comfortable and nicely equipped, except in certain locations where the AC didn't work well at night, resulting in it being uncomfortably warm. We thoroughly enjoyed the cities and sites chosen for the tour, and took advantage of all the excursions offered. The food throughout the trip was wonderful and diverse, especially for a seafood lover! The pace was fairly quick, with five two-night stays and the rest one night stay. If we were to do it again, we might drop one or two of the excursions, just to allow for a little more time to relax. I would definitely recommend this tour.

She quickly took control at the “meet and greet” creating a positive atmosphere empathising the needs of each person could be achieved through creative co-operation. She has wonderful public speaking voice. Christina’s personal leadership focusing on the aims of the tour ,her working relationship with Rui Mendez our excellent driver created a confidence in the group. Her natural habit of concentrating on relevant activities built a platform for us to avoid distractions and have a more productive and successful activities. When we sat at the front of the coach and visiting the many places of interest Christina always displayed a high level of personal management. Organising and implementing activities in line with the tours general and optional activities. Christina’s interpersonal leadership skills were outstanding. Essential because the enjoyment of each person on the coach was largely dependent on co-operative efforts with others. An example being back to the coach on time. Christina’s personal communication skills demonstrated by her ability to take the needs and concerns of the tour group seriously. Christina maintained positive relationships with all members of the group throughout the tour. She demonstrated her ability to build rapport, empathy, trust, understanding and sympathetic communications at all times.

A very informative and exciting vacation, nicely paced and well thought out. Liked the fact that we had a few more two night stays than other itineraries. Our tour guide Elena was fantastic, very lively, informative and energetic. We would definitely travel with Insight again.

    Best of Spain and Portugal

A wonderful well planned vacation with a fantastic tour director. All hotels were lovely with enjoyable breakfasts. Our group was relatively small, a few Canadians, Americans but mostly friendly Australians.

We had a wonderful trip. The expericence with Insight couldn't have been better. We especially wanted to thank Sandy from AAA in Bluefield, WV for all her help. Domnick, our tour director did an outstanding job. We look forward traveling with Insight again.

    Whirlwind Spain and Portugal

    6/18/2013 John Horan, Balwyn, Australia

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour which covered key cities in Spain and Portugal. Our tour director, Dan M, was a font of interesting information, well organised and efficient whilst still being warm and friendly, and our coach driver, Nuno, did a great job as well. In the 2 weeks, we covered just under 3000 kms, so no-one contemplating the trip should expect a leisurely holiday. Nor should you expect to see anything in too much depth, as time simply does not permit. If you decide to do all the optional extra outings (as we did), it is busy! However, if you approach the tour as we did - an opportunity to see as much as we could of these countries in a limited time - then you will in no way be disappointed. We saw many wonderful, sometimes amazing things and with the other people on the tour, shared some marvellous experiences. The standard of accommodation was invariably high, the coach travel was spacious and comfortable and the local guides used were very good too. Though mostly okay, expectations for meals served at group dinners should not be set too high - we believe fewer courses and higher quality would be a preferable way to go, but understand the limitations placed on large group bookings. Overall, we would certainly recommend this tour to others.
