  2. Day 2

    In Dublin’s Fair city.

Welcome to Dublin. On arrival at Dublin airport, your airport transfer shuttle service leaves for your hotel at 08:30, 11:00 or 13:30. Meet your Travel Director at 14:30 for an orientation tour that brings to life Dublin's architectural treasures and history, stretching back more than 1,000 years. As you travel along O'Connell Street and the River Liffey you will see the Custom House, Guinness Storehouse and Dublin Castle. Enjoy your VIP priority entry to the 9th century Book of Kells and a walk through the cobbled courtyards of Trinity College, accompanied by a University insider who will share their insights into modern life and the establishment's impressive history. Back at your hotel, join your Travel Director for a warm and friendly Welcome Reception with drinks and the opportunity to mingle and get to know each other over a pleasant evening of dinner and wine.

  3. Day 3

Cashel and Blarney, heading for Killarney.

Depart Dublin, and pass the famous Curragh Racecourse and green meadows where many of the finest Irish racehorses are bred. Driving south, stop to visit the spectacular Rock of Cashel, crowned with medieval buildings that dominate the flat countryside for miles around. Continue to Blarney Castle where you can climb to the ramparts and kiss the magical stone to ensure a lifetime of eloquence. Head to Killarney, where you may fancy a ‘pint of porter.' This town on the lakes is famous for its lively pubs so in the evening why not join in the ‘craic’?

  4. Day 4 - Relaxed Start

    Ring of Kerry Experience.

In the morning, marvel at spectacular mountain and sea views as you travel the road that winds around the beautiful Iveragh Peninsula, better known as the Ring of Kerry. There is a chance to join a hike with a Local Expert along the lake shore and past the farmlands of the Muckross Estate, admiring the spectacular scenery. Walk by West Meadow Bay and see Muckross House. While there are no mountains to climb, walkers should be fit, have good walking shoes or boots, sunscreen and rain gear. For those who do not want to join the hike, the coach will return to Killarney, where the rest of the day is at leisure.

  5. Day 5

The Cliffs of Moher and on to Galway.

Cross the Shannon Estuary by ferry and enter County Clare. Stop at the Exhibition Centre and enjoy a walk along the Cliffs of Moher, raised approximately 700 feet above the pounding Atlantic waves. Then travel north across the Burren, a suddenly stark and barren landscape, scarred with interesting limestone creases. Journey to Galway, the City of the Tribes, and see the lovely cathedral. Take in the scenery from your hotel, which is spectacularly set on the shores of Galway Bay.

  6. Day 6 - Relaxed Start

    Captivating Connemara.

Embark on a superb excursion through a wonderland of rivers, lakes and silent hills. Stop at lakeside Kylemore Abbey - a neo-Gothic mansion, occupied today by a Benedictine community of nuns who came from Ypres after World War I.

  7. Day 7 - Relaxed Start

    Majestic Ashford Castle.

A lone piper escorts you over the drawbridge to majestic Ashford Castle. Your exquisite hotel provides a romantic backdrop in superior surroundings, offering both relaxation and comfort. There are many opportunities to explore the vast estate, pamper yourself at the spa, or get to know the hawks and woodland surroundings at the hotel's Falconry School. Dining at Ashford Castle ranks among the finest culinary experiences in the world. Creative cooking, locally sourced ingredients and an innovative menu await at your Celebration Dinner. Gentlemen, a jacket is required.

  8. Day 8 - Relaxed Start

Across the Emerald Isle to Dublin.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the morning and perhaps a stroll on the estate? Then cross the midlands to Dublin where the rest of the day is free for independent activities and maybe some last minute shopping.

Trip: The itinerary was very good, but a few things could be improved. I felt rushed at some of the big sites and didn't feel like I really got to visit. Blarney Castle is a good example. I disembarked from the bus and went directly to the castle to kiss the stone. That took up all the time allotted to this magnificent place. It was also our lunch break so, no lunch for me. I didn't get to visit the gardens or anything else. I traveled across the ocean and I was not about to turn on my heel when I was at the castle door, but some people did. Same thing at Kylemore Abbey, by the time I saw the Victorian Garden, it was almost time to leave. Two nights at the Connemara Coast was too much. The hotel was a bit dreary, maybe a three-star and we were in the middle of nowhere. The bar was nice, but I am not a drinker so not much else to do there. Somewhere closer to Galway might have been nice for at least one night especially since evenings were usually free of any activity. Finally, Ashford Castle was spectacular, but again, there was a very rushed feeling to the short amount of time we had there. It's like we were killing time in the a.m. to get there, we arrive 2:00 ish and then we are brought to a holding room (a very beautiful one) while they get our rooms sorted out. That took way too long. I had to rush to my falconry activity, rush back, rush to dinner and then leave the next morning. Again, I feel like I missed out on this wonderful place. Why couldn't we have arrived earlier to see and appreciate the Castle and all it has to offer with the understanding that our rooms would not be ready until 4:00? It seemed like an inefficient use of the time we had that day.

Service: Customer service was excellent. The tour director tried very hard to please all travelers and make the experience unique and memorable. Her passion for Ireland was evident in everything she said and did as we traveled along our tour.

Trip: Everything ran beautifully. Each day was a. Ew day with new adventures. The organization was perfect. The tour guide was clear on her directions. She was very gracious if anything had to be repeated.

Service: Clodagh Fitzgerald did a fantastic job of guiding all 38 of us. She was knowledgable, kind and extremely pleasant to be with. The sights were out of this world. We enjoyed all of the information that was imparted to us. Jerry Gernon, our bus driver, did an excellent job of moving that bus on such narrow roads. He, too, was very helpful, understanding and a nice personality. Yes! We would definitely recommend Insight Vacationers to our friends. As a matter of fact, we would use Insight again if we were to travel!
