Trip: Land Itinerary was good. Some of the tours for Holland America were poor.
Service: I enjoyed the Land piece but frankly the cruise part was average at best.

Trip: Not sure this is possible but it would be great if the days could be shorter. We were up at 5:30 and frequently didn't have dinner until 7 or later. Exhausted by the end of a short tour.
Service: This was our sixth tour with Insight; we appreciate the 40 only passengers plus the extra leg room. However, on this tour the bus would have held 48 and there wasn't any extra leg room. Hopefully this isn't the new norm for Insight. The optional tours were horribly overpriced so we declined to take any. While they sounded interesting we have never seen such awful prices. What happened. The train ride was outstanding! The boat ride not so hot; Insight needs a much smaller, private boat. My husband uses a cane and was pushed and shoved aside more than once. I had a huge man intentionally step in front of me to block my ability to take a photo. He chose to stand even tho he had an window table and wasn't taking photos. It would simply be safer and more enjoyable to have our own boat.

Trip: Well planned itinerary for both the land and cruise portions of the tour. Having 2 nights in each hotel, rather than only 1, made the tour pace easy. Really enjoyed meeting several Native Americans from different communities, sled dogs and mushers, mountain climbers and National Park Rangers.
Service: Both the land portion of the trip and the cruise were excellent. Outstanding scenery and plenty of native wildlife everyday. Insight Tour Director Cheryl and Coach driver Maurice were very professional, well informed about all things Alaska and friendly. Accommodations and included meals were very good. Holland America took great care of us on the cruise portion.

Trip: Excellent itinerary. We saw as much of Alaska as possible in a defined amount of time.
Service: I would definitely recommend Insight to fellow travelers.

Trip: We were just a little rushed in our visit to the cultural heritage and aquatic life center. Since alaska is known for its wilderness, maybe can add an included wilderness trip in the itinerary. The glacier visit is perfect. The train ride is a bit discomforting as we were in the train coach with a very very noisy group, we could not even hear what Victoria , the train hostess, is pointing out along the way.
Service: They have hired very good people for the tour, very good experiences, provided cultural and touristy sites for us.

Trip: We experienced a great variety of activities in the short 7-day trip. I enjoyed the combination of coach, train, and day cruise ship. My least favorite destinations were the airplane museum in Anchorage and the Sea Life Center in Seward. While the center had engaging interactive displays, the private tour of the research facility mostly centered on wall charts and was mostly a listening activity. If we had just toured the center exhibits on our own, we would have had more time to explore downtown Seward and have had more time to enjoy lunch before heading to the Anchorage airport.
Service: The accommodations at each hotel were exceptional, and the meals the high point of each day. Our tour director Cheryl and driver Fighter were both very caring and efficient, and went above and beyond their job requirements. One suggestion about the optional excursions: The options changed a bit from originally advertised, and I felt pressured during first day check-in to choose from very similar-sounding options. Once I signed up for one trip, I could no longer study further options because the additional options were on the back side of the paper I had to hand in with payment for my first selection. Perhaps the options could have their detailed descriptions listed, and printed on a separate sheet from the excursion registration form.
