  3. Day 3

The Imperial Cities of Meknes and Fes

A tour of the sights of Casablanca will show you the huge Hassan II Mosque – the largest in the country. The très chic seaside strip (known as the Corniche) stretches to the west, lined with trendy restaurants and cafés. Depart for the capital of Rabat to see the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower and visit one of the few holy places open to non-Muslims; the lavish Mausoleum of King Mohammed V - both an architectural marvel and a monument to a great ruler. Move on to Meknes, one of the kingdom's great imperial cities dating back to the 11th century, its surroundings remain unchanged for centuries. Stand before the Bab el-Mansour, the monumental entrance to the imperial city and focal point of Place El-Hedim. Continue to Fes and be treated to a superb Moroccan feast and traditional folklore show. In an ancient palace at the entrance to the medina, a colourful array of meze plates, aromatic tagines, exotic fruits and wine will be laid before you, amidst a carnival-like atmosphere of belly dancers, drums and authentic music. A truly unforgettable experience!

  4. Day 4

    Fes Sightseeing

(Relaxed Start) Sightseeing with a Local Expert will show you the Medina – the walled city of hidden courtyards, mosques and workshops, the bazaar and one of the world's oldest universities. Learn about the ancient craft of carpet making, gain an insight into the motifs and colours used in the designs. Witness the unique and age-old techniques of pottery and bread making.

  5. Day 5

    The Ziz Gorges to Erfoud

Leave the bustle of the city behind and head for the spectacular snow-capped High Atlas Mountains. Pass through Ifrane before reaching the great cedar forests of Azrou. After your lunch at Midelt, continue up through the magnificent Ziz Gorges, past palm-fringed towns to Er Rachidia (built by the French at an important crossroads). Your destination is Erfoud, where the red sand buildings contrast against the surrounding desert. In the evening, there is the option to meet the nomadic desert dwellers and marvel at the glorious Sahara sunset on a 4-wheel drive optional experience.

  6. Day 6

Todra Gorge and on to Ouarzazate

Venture towards the oasis of Tinehir before taking a detour to explore the Todra Gorge – the Grand Canyon of the Sahara. At Boumalne-du-Dades, encounter the dry, rugged Dades Valley, dotted with oases of figs, olives, date palms and castellated mud houses hugging the slopes. En-route, lunch is included. Stop for Berber tea at a traditional Nomad house. Your 'Road of a Thousand Kasbahs' concludes at Ouarzazate, film capital of Morocco, with everything from Lawrence of Arabia to Star Wars being filmed here.

  7. Day 7

    To Marrakesh

(Relaxed Start) Get your cameras ready as you stop at the village of Aït Benhaddou, boasting one of Morocco's finest kasbahs. Continue via the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka Pass, before descending past charming mountain villages, dense woods and green fields to the ochre-coloured city of Marrakesh.

  8. Day 8

    Marrakesh, Pearl of the South

(Relaxed Start) Sightseeing starts in the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. After some time to watch the dancers, snake charmers, storytellers and acrobats, explore the Medina, seeing the Koutoubia Mosque, with a minaret that dominates the Marrakesh skyline. Then visit the Palais de la Bahia, built in the late 19th century, intended to be the greatest palace of its time. Then enjoy free time to visit a museum or haggle in the souks. In the evening, you could take a charming horse and carriage ride to a vibrant restaurant on the main square for a slew of classic Moroccan dishes and an ambiance arabesque of twirling belly dancers with plates of lit candles on their heads.

  9. Day 9

    Elegant Essaouira

(Relaxed Start) Say goodbye to the snake charmers of Marrakesh and venture to the laid-back fishing town of Essaouira. After checking into your hotel, why not spend the afternoon navigating the narrow alleyways, exploring the busy fishing port or maybe just relaxing on the beach? In the evening, you could sample the local seafood and wine at a waterside restaurant.

  10. Day 10

    Return to Casablanca

(Relaxed Start) Once you've experienced the traditional charms of the country, Casablanca is a fascinating place to return to, offering a unique insight into modern Morocco. At night, "of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world", there really is only one place to be. Join your Tour Director at Rick's Café - recreated from the famous movie. • 13 November, 2017

Trip: Rick's Café was a legend, great food & service. Really appreciated all the help bargaining for rugs and souvenirs in Fes and Marrakesh. I loved the market in Fes, Gorges, desert, camel ride in the Sahara, meeting the nomadic dwellers, Berber tea, Marrakesh (highlight) and elegant Essaouira. Great variety of sights and experiences with personal touches!

Service: Our trip was beyond my expectations, however the trip to the Spice/Oil Shop in Marrakesh...."1,000,000 epices" sold me old spices. The spices they passed around for us to smell were fresh. I had to throw out all 8 pkg. spices I purchased from them when I got home! The Argan oil is wonderful! Great stories,

    Trip: Good insight into Morroco.

Service: loved the itinerary . my wife wanted to do more free time shopping she was disappointed with this . Me I'm ok with the shopping, but more free time in certain areas would have been nice. Yes I would recommend your tour company to friends and family

  • 06 November, 2017

Trip: The places visited were very interesting and this was why we chose this tour. However, too much time devoted to shopping.

Service: Tour guide and driver were very good. Sales / back office were poor.

  • 06 November, 2017

Trip: Beautiful locations selected to tour.

Service: Excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable. Never had to worry about anything.

  • 06 November, 2017

Trip: All very good except the diversion to stay at Essaouira which added hundred of kms without any tangible benefit. The next day we retraced our journey which simply added kms

Service: I would certainly recommend this tour to my friends. Insights leader was very enthusiastic about his country and its history.

  • 06 November, 2017

Trip: we got to see many places in a short time.

Service: great guide and driver! beautiful hotels, interesting activities

  • 06 November, 2017

Trip: Itinerary covered most of Morocco and gave a good insight between old and new and rich and poor.

Service: The hotels were great , though did not have tea or coffee making facilities in rooms in most of them and some were without tissues. Tour director and driver were very good. I was a little disappointed in my shopping experience as I think I misinterpreted the information given. But all in all it was a very interesting country and diverse . We got to experience all aspects of Moroccan life.

  • 31 October, 2017

Trip: There were a couple of questionable stops on our tour, specifically the leather factory and rug shop. Both of these stops had a small bit of interesting information but were basically rip-off tourist traps where items appeared to be MUCH higher priced than anywhere else but sold under the guise that they were the only place to get authentic items. We opted for the 3 optional excursions which were all amazing and I think should be included on the tour. They all provided very unique and interesting cultural experiences.

Service: Highly recommend the Morocco tour with Insight. Our tour director Najib provided us with a tremendous amount of information on the history, culture and religions of Morocco. We come away with very fond memories of the country and people of Morocco.

  • 31 October, 2017

Trip: It gave one an opportunity to see the vast variety of terrain in this fascinating country. Also to experience the things which one associates with Morocco. Overall a very comprehensive itinerary.

Service: Excellent local guide. Whilst his English was not perfect, one had to listen carefully to be sure one understood what he was saying. He was not reading his information, but speaking "off the cuff." When needed, he went out of his way to procure medications with his very caring attitude .

  • 30 October, 2017

    Trip: interesting sights and cities

Service: The guide Najib was great I would use them again

  • 30 October, 2017

Trip: The tour travels through most of Morocco except for the city of Tangiers. It would have been nice to have also hit that northern city as it plays a part in the history of the country.

Service: Insight Vacations cares. A simple statement, but one which resonates in every aspect of the tour. From the tour director to the program itinerary, the tour captured the best of what the location has to offer and delivers that in a seamless experience. The logistics that goes into delivering a tour of such high standards is evident in every interaction you have with the staff and the sights.

  • 30 October, 2017

Trip: We made no purchases. We never do.

Service: First of all Insight had a great itinerary, offering a full experience of the varied geography and the culture. Our guide, Najib, was wonderful! He has a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of the Moroccan society that he shared in a relaxed manner often accompanied by a humorous anecdote. He has a personal touch and made sure his guests were looked after, even paying entry fees to local toilets! The transportation was great, an excellent driver! Accommodation was good to excellent.
