Your visit also includes behind-the-scenes access to a part of the Vatican denied to the general public such as the famous Bramante Staircase. Alternatively, stroll to the boutiques of the Via del Corso and Via Nazionale or visit the elegant designer stores near the Spanish Steps. As night falls, why not sip a glass of prosecco at a sidewalk cafe in the Piazza Navona, the 'Living Room of Rome', and enjoy life's pageantry pass by?
Under the Tuscan sun to Assisi.
Journey through Umbria and up the foothills of the Apennine Mountains to reach delightful Assisi, a stone-built town spilling over the steep hillside. With a Local Expert, visit the tomb of St. Francis and see the beautiful frescoes by Giotto in the great basilica. Continue through the picture-perfect scenery of the Tuscan hills, where deep-green cypress trees pierce blue skies and olive groves hug the rolling hillsides to reach Renaissance Florence.
Florence, Birthplace of the Renaissance.
(Relaxed Start)Join a local art historian to see Michelangelo's David in the Accademia Museum. Walk on to the multi-coloured marble cathedral, bell tower and baptistery, where Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise have been recreated in all their glory. Visit Piazza della Signoria, still the political heart of Florence and an open-air gallery of Renaissance masterpieces. Spend time gazing at statues such as Neptune as well as Hercules and Cacus, along the front of the Palazzo Vecchio. The area around Santa Croce Basilica is famous for the quality of its luxury goods of gold and leather and there's free time to shop or continue exploring with the rest of the day at leisure.
Pisa and the Tuscan Countryside.
(Relaxed Start) After a leisurely morning in Florence, explore the nearby town of Pisa with a Local Expert and see the baptistery with its intricate marble facade, the colonnaded bell tower lurching behind the cathedral and of course the famous Leaning Tower. On return to Florence, stop at the il Poggio organic farm for a guided walk through the vineyards and olive trees, learning about the production of olive oil and wine. On the veranda, take in beautiful views of the rolling Tuscan hills as you enjoy tasting the farm's freshly-produced wines and olive oil, in addition to an authentic Italian meal prepared with locally-sourced ingredients.
Verona and Venice, Queen of the Adriatic.

Then board your private launch, sit back and enjoy your introduction to this unique city of ornate palaces, bridges and gondolas. Disembark and stroll to the Bridge of Sighs before turning the corner to stand in awe at the marble arcades of Piazza San Marco. St. Mark’s Basilica, with its dazzling domes, occupies the corner next to the clock tower. Beside it stands the pink and white marbled Doge’s Palace. In the afternoon, there will be plenty of time to explore the museums, galleries and churches or browse through the shops on the Rialto Bridge. Perhaps cruise out to some of the other islands in the lagoon to experience the age-old lifestyle of Venetian fishermen and lace-makers.
Venice at Leisure.

Trip: The trip was offered as an easy pace trip which allowed three days in each base location with a variety of additional side trips. We took ample opportunity to explore with the native guides and there was time for exploration on our own. Alas, like most pleasant experiences, there simply was a desire for more time to do even that little extra that could not be accommodated.
Service: Our trip was made much more enjoyable due to the attention to detail and careful shepherding of our tour guide (and driver). Her wealth of knowledge and unfailing politeness made our trip better each day. The only regret was having to leave each location to move to the next until, inevitably, we had to leave Italy. We will look forward to another trip.

Trip: This tour was called Easy Pace because we stayed in each hotel for 3 nights so constant repacking wasn't necessary. The tour itself was anything but easy pace--with all the optionals, we were kept on the run. But, had we gone to Italy on our own in that extreme 90+ degree weather, we wouldn't not have seen half of what we saw on the tour. The best hotel was the Hilton in Venice. Am glad the tour ended there rather than our last hotel being the one in Rome. The hotel in Rome was okay but the one in Florence had terrible mattresses--was like sleeping on noisy stacks of newspaper. Very strange. The front desk staffs at each hotel were wonderful.
Service: Our tour guide, Filippo Concollato, was incredible. He managed to keep our group of 38 together throughout the tour and then make sure we all got found our way to the water taxis for a ride to the airport when the trip was over. He was constantly checking in with everyone to make sure we were all doing okay. This was our second insight tour so we knew to sign up for all the optional tours. We were only disappointed with one of them--San Gimignano. It turned out to be a three-hour shopping trip where we were left to walk around on our own. We would have rather spent the time elsewhere on our own. Tour of Pompeii was not to be missed. The dinners at the vineyards were fabulous--lots to eat and drink, along with incredible views. The Magical Venice optional was great...loved the orchestra, the Italian drinks, the speed boat ride through the canals at night. Had a great time in Burano--more great food and wine.

Trip: Great itinerary and you can decide to do more or not depending on your preferences.
Service: Very good attention to details. Good use of time and great logistics. They could do a better job with the introductory and closing dinners.

Trip: It was amazing. However I think we needed to spend more time in Pisa. 30 minutes was not enough
Service: The tour guide was very knowledgeable, however she was not very patient with the group. And would sometimes be quite rude.

Trip: Overall good itinerary but too many "optional" tours. Prices on optional tours not readily available.
Service: Excellent tour director and coach driver. Some confusion on transfer at airport on arrival but cleared up within 45 minutes.

Trip: The majority of thd trip was wonderful. The first day in Rome was a little much if you were doing the optional tours. They should place the optional colosseum tour and the Vatican tour on separate days. I would have also loved one more day in Florance. We did the optional tours and didn’t have much free time in Florance.
Service: Insight service did a great job getting us where we were going and informing us of everything prior to our departure. I misplaced one of my vouchers during the trip and they were very easy to work with to replace it. I would definitely use them again for another trip.
