Experience the grandeur of Russia, exploring the baroque architecture of St Petersburg and the palaces of Moscow. Marvel at the famous art collection of the Hermitage Museum and travel by hydrofoil and high-speed train in perfect style.

  1. Day 1

    Welcome to St. Petersburg.

    Airport transfers depart from St. Petersburg airport at 14:30 and 17:00. Meet your Travel Director and travel companions at 19:00 for a friendly Welcome Dinner served with wine.

  2. Day 2

    St. Petersburg Sightseeing.

    Morning sightseeing with your Local Expert includes views of St. Isaac's Cathedral, the fortress of St. Peter and Paul and Decembrists' Square. Travel along Nevsky Prospekt for views of the great Cathedral of Kazan and the iconic, onion-domed Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood. The rest of the day is yours to explore. Perhaps join an Optional Experience to the small town of Tsarskoe Selo, now called Pushkin, and visit the beautiful Catherine Palace? Or, if you’d prefer to relax, head back to your hotel where you can make the most of its luxury facilities.

  3. Day 3 - Relaxed Start

    Petrodvorets by Hydrofoil.

    Cruise by hydrofoil along the Baltic shore to Peter the Great’s summer residence of Petrodvorets. For over 200 years it was used for official ceremonies, lavish feasts and formal receptions. Explore the perfectly manicured gardens and see the cascading fountains. Later you are at leisure, or perhaps visit the former residence of the Yusupov family and the scene of Rasputin's murder?

  4. Day 4 - Relaxed Start

    The Hermitage Museum.

    Located in the Winter Palace, the Hermitage is one of the world’s greatest museums. Marvel at this fabulous collection of paintings and ornaments, ranging from Egyptian carvings to Impressionist masterpieces. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore, shop or relax.

  5. Day 5 - Relaxed Start

    High Speed Sapsan Train to Moscow.

    Enjoy a relaxed start in the morning, or perhaps visit the former residence of the Yusupov family and the scene of Rasputin's murder? Later, board your high speed Sapsan train and relax in modern luxury and comfort as you travel to Moscow in just a few hours. On arrival in this fascinating city, you are transferred to your hotel for a leisurely three-night stay. Famous for its unique history and colourful architecture, explore Moscow’s enchanting city centre and get lost in its captivating Modern art scene. For those wanting to take a pretty stroll, why not head to Gorky Park? Designed in the 1920s by Konstantin Melnikov, the park is famous for its outdoor activities and art exhibitions.

  6. Day 6 - Relaxed Start

    Moscow, a Russian Revelation.

    Begin your exploration of the Russian capital with a Local Expert. Start in Red Square, lined by Moscow's landmark buildings. At one end rises the onion-shaped domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, in front of the Kremlin stands Lenin's Mausoleum, while on the opposite side, the grand GUM department store offers a variety of glamorous goods. During your stay, you will visit one of the Metro stations which Stalin called ‘Palaces for the People.' Gain a local insight into the themes depicted among the marble, mosaics, sculptures and chandeliers. In your free time, why not witness the crown jewels and Fabergé Egg collection of the Imperial Russian Family?

  7. Day 7 - Relaxed Start

    Moscow and The Kremlin.

    In the morning you are at leisure to relax or explore the Russian capital as you wish. Perhaps visit the Borodino Panorama Exhibition or take an Optional Experience to the renowned centre of ancient Russian art and architecture, Zagorsk? In the afternoon, walk within the walls of the Kremlin Fortress to visit one of the cathedrals. Learn more about Russia’s famous Tsars, the history of the Fortress and how its role has changed over the years. Later, enjoy delicious food, great wine and wonderful company as you toast to your travels during your Celebration Dinner.

  8. Day 8

    Farewell Moscow.

    Departure transfers will arrive at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport at 05:00, 08:00 and 11:00 and at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport at 05:00, 10:00 and 13:00.

Russian Folklore Show

Come and hear the balalaikas ringing out! A spectacular evening of traditional music, song and dance! This fun-filled show will have you clapping along to the rollicking Cossack dancers and girls in brightly coloured costumes as they sing their sweet harmonies.

Neva River Cruise

Due to its many islands, canals and bridges, St. Petersburg is known as ‘the Venice of the North’ and the best place to view it is from the water. Catherine Palace

The little town of Tsarskoe Selo, now called Pushkin, houses Russia's most beautiful palace. Even from the outside, its awesome grandeur overwhelms the senses. Walking through the 'Golden Enfilade' of state rooms is like stepping into another world. Feel the presence of Catherine the Great reflected in the sumptuous gilded stucco, mirrors, and amber. The restored Amber Room is a truly unique monument with your local expert providing the historical context. In case of closure or unavailability of Catherine’s Palace, we will visit the delightful Palace of Pavlovsk, which was built by Catherine the Great. The price will then be €47.00.

Peter & Paul Fortress

Join a local expert for a visit to the island stronghold where St. Petersburg's foundation stone was laid in 1703. Built as a defence against Swedish attack, the fortress served as a political prison for the Tsars' opponents, including Peter's own rebellious son, Alexei. A fascinating walk through Russian history takes you from the riverside walkway, still lined with cannon, inside the bastions to the ornate church, housing the imperial tombs of the Romanov rulers. A must-see during your visit to St. Petersburg!

Imperial Splendours and Architectural Gems

With our Local Specialist we'll take a tour of two iconic churches. The Church of the Saviour on the Spilt Blood, built to commemorate the assassination of Tsar Alexander II, has one of the country's most intricate displays of mosaic icons. Not to be outdone, St Isaac's Cathedral is the fourth-largest cathedral in the world. Designed by a French architect, its immense interior is comprised of malachite and other precious materials, gathered from all parts of Russia.

Russian Mosaic

The complex history of Russia is fixed in the soul of the people and this experience focuses on historical events that have shaped the nation. Drive out to the Borodino Panorama Exhibition which brings to life the Battle of Borodino, one of the most important events in Russia's history - immortalised in Tolstoy's epic "War and Peace". Then, head to Poklonnaya Hill where we find Victory Memorial Park with monuments dedicated to the memory of the victory over the Nazis in WWII. If Borodino Panorama Exhibition is closed, we will visit the Central Museum of Great Patriotic War, located in the Victory Park.

Excursion to Sergiyev Posad

A wonderful excursion takes you to Sergiyev Posad (known as Zagorsk in the Soviet era), renowned centre of ancient Russian art and architecture. For centuries it served as a place of pilgrimage and the religious capital of Russia. Within the old walled city, admire the fairy-tale golden and blue domes of the Troitse Sergiyevo Lavra, one of the most beautiful of all monasteries. Afterwards, enjoy time to browse for locally made Russian handicrafts, wooden toys and Matryoshka dolls at the local market.
