Showcasing the very best sights and scenery of Ireland including the Wild Atlantic Way and a night at the magnificent Ashford Castle.

  1. Day 1

    In Dublin’s Fair city.

Welcome to Dublin. On arrival at Dublin airport, your airport transfer shuttle service leaves for your hotel at 08:30, 11:00 or 13:30. Meet your Travel Director at 14:30 for an orientation tour that brings to life Dublin's architectural treasures and history, stretching back more than 1,000 years. As you travel along O'Connell Street and the River Liffey you will see the Custom House, Guinness Storehouse and Dublin Castle. Enjoy your VIP priority entry to the 9th century Book of Kells and a walk through the cobbled courtyards of Trinity College, accompanied by a University insider who will share their insights into modern life and the establishment's impressive history. Back at your hotel, join your Travel Director for a warm and friendly Welcome Reception with drinks and the opportunity to mingle and get to know each other over a pleasant evening of dinner and wine.

  2. Day 2

Cashel and Blarney, heading for Killarney.

Depart Dublin, and pass the famous Curragh Racecourse and green meadows where many of the finest Irish racehorses are bred. Driving south, stop to visit the spectacular Rock of Cashel, crowned with medieval buildings that dominate the flat countryside for miles around. Continue to Blarney Castle where you can climb to the ramparts and kiss the magical stone to ensure a lifetime of eloquence. Head to Killarney, where you may fancy a ‘pint of porter.' This town on the lakes is famous for its lively pubs so in the evening why not join in the ‘craic’?

  3. Day 3 - Relaxed Start

    Ring of Kerry Experience.

In the morning, marvel at spectacular mountain and sea views as you travel the road that winds around the beautiful Iveragh Peninsula, better known as the Ring of Kerry. There is a chance to join a hike with a Local Expert along the lake shore and past the farmlands of the Muckross Estate, admiring the spectacular scenery. Walk by West Meadow Bay and see Muckross House. While there are no mountains to climb, walkers should be fit, have good walking shoes or boots, sunscreen and rain gear. For those who do not want to join the hike, the coach will return to Killarney, where the rest of the day is at leisure.

  4. Day 4

The Cliffs of Moher and on to Galway.

Cross the Shannon Estuary by ferry and enter County Clare. Stop at the Exhibition Centre and enjoy a walk along the Cliffs of Moher, raised approximately 700 feet above the pounding Atlantic waves. Then travel north across the Burren, a suddenly stark and barren landscape, scarred with interesting limestone creases. Journey to Galway, the City of the Tribes, and see the lovely cathedral. Take in the scenery from your hotel, which is spectacularly set on the shores of Galway Bay.

  5. Day 5 - Relaxed Start

    Captivating Connemara.

Embark on a superb excursion through a wonderland of rivers, lakes and silent hills. Stop at lakeside Kylemore Abbey - a neo-Gothic mansion, occupied today by a Benedictine community of nuns who came from Ypres after World War I.

  6. Day 6 - Relaxed Start

    Majestic Ashford Castle.

A lone piper escorts you over the drawbridge to majestic Ashford Castle. Your exquisite hotel provides a romantic backdrop in superior surroundings, offering both relaxation and comfort. There are many opportunities to explore the vast estate, pamper yourself at the spa, or get to know the hawks and woodland surroundings at the hotel's Falconry School. Dining at Ashford Castle ranks among the finest culinary experiences in the world. Creative cooking, locally sourced ingredients and an innovative menu await at your Celebration Dinner. Gentlemen, a jacket is required.

  7. Day 7 - Relaxed Start

Across the Emerald Isle to Dublin.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the morning and perhaps a stroll on the estate? Then cross the midlands to Dublin where the rest of the day is free for independent activities and maybe some last minute shopping.

  8. Day 8

    Depart Dublin.

Your journey comes to an end after breakfast. Departure transfers arrive at Dublin airport at 07:00, 09:00 and 11:00.

    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: A lot to see in a short time. Wish we could see Cliffs of Moher in afternoon instead of morning since fog did not let us see. Wish we could meet more locals and spend more time at sites.

Service: Great trip to be introduced to Ireland for first time. Exceptional tour guide Ann and bus driver Eugene. Beautiful country, great food and wonderful people!

    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: Excellent selection of sites to see and optional activities offered!

Service: Katie Vaughan was an incredible tour guide -- we would like to have her again if we do another tour of Ireland. The tour was one of the best we have had, especially because we stayed at Ashford Castle. I would love another in-depth tour of Ireland with more days and cultural activities, be they optional or not with at least three days at Ashford Castle with indoor and outdoor tours of the castle and a choice of in-house activities at the castle.

    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: Every part of the tour was wonderful. The cities, hotels and sights were great picks. I found the Clayton Hotel to be a little too warm. Our travel director, Katie, was very knowledgeable and made the trip even better.

Service: First time traveler with Insight Vacations and I will definitely become a regular. Our travel agent found the perfect trip for our honeymoon.

Trip: was a great trip perhaps the only thinkg I wold have liked was a bit more time in Dublin

Service: Due to the papal visit to Dublin our first day was unfortunately cancelled! However, the boat ride to Ashford Castle offered to our group was very special and appreciated! Our tour guide and bus driver were really great. traveled with Tralfagar to London, Scotland and Wales two years ago--had a wonderful tour guide. He was a tough act to follow but am delighted to say this was an equally comparable experience. A delightful group of travel companions was the icing on the cake Thanks for a memorable travel experience!! Karon M

    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: Enjoyable! We had so much fun and loved most everything about the tour.

Service: Our guide Katie was amazing! So full of information about Everything in Ireland and its history. She made some of the longer bus rides very enjoyable. We were pleased with everything about the trip. Loved the itinerary and most of the hotels and activities. The one hotel in Galway on the Connemara coast could use some updating and I think that I would have preferred to stay closer in the city of Galway as opposed to on the outskirts. Would have given us more time to spend in Galway as well and enjoy the nightlife and shopping. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and the other tourists on the trip. Everyone got along so well and there was a wide range of ages. Loved Ashford Castle and would have liked to have a little more time there. We did the Falconry activity and I can't recommend that highly enough. The trainers there were fantastic and knowledgable and personable. So much fun! Katie showed us a variety of sites that were unexpected and also took us to some great little places for snacks and breaks. Many of us felt that she is what helped to make the trip extra special so my thanks to her!
