    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: Beginning the trip with a visit to the pyramids of Giza was such a thrill! Our little group of 7 were in awe of the splendor of these great structures. The trip on Lake Nasser on a beautiful river boat was wonderful and the side trips were as well. Three nights aboard a second ship on the Nile River had so many interesting side venues and excursions, each one fun and new and interesting. Our only real complaint, and we mutinied at the end of the trip, was it was advertised as having several 'relaxed start' days, but every single day we had to be up between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. in order to get where we were going. On the last day we all said no way. We're exhausted, we're all a little under the weather with some stomach issues, and we need some rest. If you truly want people to love this trip, you need to give them time to rest and recuperate a few mornings as advertised!

Service: This is our 4th Insight vacation. We love that the groups are small and the guides are excellent. Our accommodations on this trip were very nice, but the economy in Egypt is so sad that it's depressing to see the ships and hotels sitting unused for years. One thing that was inexcusable was having to purchase our own water for drinking! When one of your trips is to a place where the water even in the best hotels is unsuitable for drinking, an UNLIMITED SUPPLY of bottled water should be included in the price of the trip. Up the price by $5.00 and give us water. Our first guide was outstanding and we all bonded with him immediately. Due to a glitch we had to have a substitute guide for the remainder of our trip. He was extremely knowledgeable also, but did not have the personality of the original guide. I would give him 3 stars, the first one 5 stars. This is the trip of a lifetime and I would certainly recommend that people who want a unique experience should go.

Trip: The itinerary covered pretty much what we like to see in Egypt.

Service: We received Insight Vacations documents in good time, complete with all the important information for the tour. Thanks to an alert by Insight with a rebooking of our return flight from Cairo to London and by our Affordable Tours travel agent on account of Air France cancelled flight from Charles de Gaulle to Detroit. Spring Tours in Egypt, good job done for the customers.

    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: Egypt was delightful. The sites around Cairo were magnificent, from the step pyramids near Memphis to the pyramids at Giza. The temples at Abu Simbel are amazing and the engineering used to save them from the waters of Lake Nasser must have been awesome The cruise down the Nile from Aswan was fun and interesting culminating with the temples at Luxor

Service: The guides were excellent. Customer representatives were there to meet us at every flight and they handled everything. We would certainly recommend Insight to our friends

  • 02 March, 2018

    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: Liked the itinerary. Just didn't like the fact that pretty much every meal was buffet. And the buffets had almost all the same things as the previous days buffet. Add some restaurant meals to the itinerary to provide some variation. Also, was terribly disappointed in the ship we had from Aswan to Luxor. That bathroom was way too small. I would rate that ship zero stars because of that.

Service: Excellent hotel choice. The tour director was prepared had information for us and boarding passes for us ahead of time.

    TRIP:
    SERVICE:

Trip: We’ve just returned from Egypt after taking Insight Vacations’ “Jewels of the Nile, Lake Nasser, and Abu Simbel” tour beginning on 12 Feb 2018. We want to thank Insight Vacations; your wonderful local Egyptian partner, Spring Tours; and all the wonderful people we met in Egypt who took us under their care and made us feel so at home. We could never have envisioned such a wonderful Egyptian sojourn, and we feel truly privileged to have experienced it. On our arrival in Cairo airport on the evening of 9 Feb, we were met by Rafaat, who guided us through immigration and customs with grace, ease, and efficiency. Rafaat and our driver, Sameer, then transported us to our hotel while briefing us about the local area and our upcoming Insights tour. Knowing we had arrived four days before our formal tour date start, Rafaat suggested options for local Cairo-area tours to sights we expressed an interest in, and he then made all arrangements for these additional tours on the spot. After whisking us through hotel reception at the elegant Cairo Marriott hotel, Rafaat made sure we had all the additional information we needed during our pre-tour time in Cairo. We were very glad to meet Rafaat again at the end of the tour during our transfer to Cairo airport for our return home. His efficient competence, helpfulness, and reassuring presence were a wonderful “bookend” to our time in Egypt. On the morning of 10 Feb, we were meet in the hotel lobby by the smiling presence of Hazem Khalaf, who was to be our Cairo Egyptologist guide for the following four days. I cannot say enough good things about Hazem. Hazem Khalaf is simply the best professional guide we have ever had anywhere. A thoroughly erudite Cairene, Hazem introduced us to his city and the surrounding areas like a trusted and caring friend. Thank you so much for allowing us to spend time with Hazem. In addition to being such a knowledgeable guide, Hazem—along with our wonderful drivers, Mohamed and Habib--went out of his way to demonstrate how Egyptians continue to honor their wonderfully diverse historical culture through their daily lives. For example, during our tour of Coptic Cairo, Hazem told us how some of his Coptic Christian friends made written confessions and left them in the church reliquaries when they felt unable to unburden themselves directly to their priests. Later, upon visiting the Amr al-As mosque, Hazem demonstrated how Muslims actively participate in Friday prayers and explained the meaning and significance of these services. We learned so much from Hazem during our four pre-tour days in the Cairo area. He is a true friend to us, and we feel so privileged to have spent time with him. We look forward to keeping in touch with him and his family until we return to Egypt again. Upon the formal commencement of our Insights’ tour on the morning of 13 Feb, your local manager, Sharif, greeted us in the hotel lobby; introduced us to our wonder Egyptologist tour director, Mohamed Abdel-Rahman; and briefed us about our upcoming formal tour arrangements. Sharif is a wonderfully caring and efficient administrator who worked very hard to make both our pre-tour sightseeing with Hazem and our subsequent time with our tour director, Mohamed, seamlessly comfortable. On learning of our early departure from Cairo airport on 23 Feb, Sharif even arranged alternative accommodations at the Heliopolis Hilton hotel so we would have additional time to rest and recuperate prior to our long flight home. Insights is very lucky indeed to have such a competent and caring local administrator in Sharif. We are very grateful to him. Finally, we are very grateful for our time with our tour director, Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, and the wonderful staff aboard our two tour boats while sailing on Lake Nasser from Abu Simbel to Aswan and on the Nile from Aswan to Luxor. Mohamed kindly took us under his care, introduced us to the many wonders of Upper Egypt, and shared with us his personal experiences growing up in his home town near Abydos. Mohamed’s deep understanding of both ancient and modern Egyptian history and culture continually enriched our sightseeing, and he introduced us to many diverse Egyptian subcultures, such as the wonderful Nubians we encountered in Abu Simbel and Aswan. Mohamed always goes out of his way to make sure each person in his tour group is able to fulfill his or her unique Egyptian experience. For example, Mohamed made arrangements for me to visit the Nubian Museum in Aswan and the Luxor Museum in Luxor, both of which provided me with wonderful material context that greatly deepened my understanding of the many ancient temples and sights we visited throughout our tour of Upper Egypt. Thanks to all of you for making our recent trip to Egypt such a terrific experience. And to all who are thinking of visiting Egypt, please do so NOW. There is no better time than the present to experience all that Egypt and the wonderfully welcoming Egyptian people have to offer you! Best wishes, Mack and Shelley McCullin West Monroe, Louisiana USA
