By Glaciers and Icebergs to Höfn.
Travel along the southern coast of Iceland, beside the black basalt sand beaches. The highlight of the day is the National Park at Skaftafell where you will see the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull. Travel on to the luminous blue icebergs of Lake Jökulsárlón, the dramatic setting of scenes in two James Bond films. Arrive in the small harbour town of Höfn, an active lobster fishing hub. Your Travel Director takes you on a short orientation.
Eastern Fjords to Egilsstaðir.
Explore the eastern coastal region, where Irish missionary monks lived some 1,200 years ago. Travel up the fjords to the beautiful area around Egilsstaðir.
By Desert, Lakes and Divine Waterfalls to Akureyri.
Journey through the sand desert of Möðrudalur to the Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. View the Goðafoss, known as The Waterfall of the Gods. Continue on to the beautiful Lake Mývatn. This area offers a wide spectrum of geological formations and the concentrated geothermal activity produces mud pools and spectacular coloured deposits. Continue to Akureyri where you have the evening to relax or explore at your leisure. Perhaps embark on an optional whale watching experience? (available during whale season)
From the Capital of the North to Borgarnes.
Enjoy an orientation of Akureyri, the capital of northern Iceland, first established as a trading centre in 1602. Travel past mountains, waterfalls and green coastal regions to Hvammstangi. Later, continue on to the south-west coast of Borgarnes.

Enjoy a fascinating exploration of the park’s many famous sites, including the magnificent Snæfell Glacier and Búðir, a romantic landscape of white, sandy hills, black lava fields and a yellow beach. Walk along the sea-cliff at Arnarstapi with its spectacular columnar rock formations.
Thingvellir, Blue Lagoon and on to Reykjavík.
Journey south to Thingvellir, where the first meeting of the Icelandic parliament was held in A.D. 930. This remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site lies on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge line where the American and European tectonic plates meet. On arrival in Reykjavík, enjoy an orientation of the city. See the Old Harbour, National Museum, the Domkirk church and Höfði House. Pass Althingishusid, Reykjavik’s House of Parliament, and continue to the Hallgrímskirkja Church which can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. Visit Iceland's world-famous Blue Lagoon, where you join your newfound friends and toast your Icelandic holiday with a cocktail. Trip: Great Tour Guide and Coach Driver. Good hotels. Would have liked evening meals on all nights. They don;t have to be three courses.
Service: Great Tour Guide and Coach Driver. Hotels were good. Would travel with Insight again.

Trip: Excellent itinerary with regard to travel around the Ring Road. Accommodations were excellent as was the pace of the tour. As with many itineraries, I always wish we had more time at certain stops to explore and shop, but I understand the necessity in keeping to a schedule. Would recommend a guided tour in Reykjavik (perhaps as an optional tour at the start or end) with explanation of the history.
Service: Having traveled with Insight previously, this tour met my expectations which is why I keep coming back. Our guide, Zsofi, was wonderful. She made the experience extra special with her professionalism, energy and attention to detail.

Trip: The Tour Director even though she had some good qualities she never went ‘the extra mile’!!! The arrivals at the airport was a fiasco. TD did not wait even 5 mins for folk who had landed but had not come through immigration by the specified bus leaving time. Even though the driver had excellent driving skills he completely lacked any people skills. Didn’t assist anyone, just sat in his seat.
Service: The Tour Director was very knowledgeable, personable and organised. The bus driver being a local Icelandic person was an excellent driver and fully aware of the hazards of driving in that country.

Trip: Itinerary was worked out so we arrived at the many sites as well as rest stops ahead or between other bus groups. Therefore we were able to enjoy our stops and spend less time waiting in lines.
Service: I did not deal directly with Insight my self but worked thru my AAA agent who seemed to get excellent service from Insight.

Trip: This tour was fairly relaxed but still managed to cover everything in the itinerary. Blue Lagoon: fantastic. The waterfalls, boiling mud pools and geysers were spectacular, even in the rain.
Service: We have travelled with Insight several times and know that whatever tour we purchase will be good. Natural Wonders of Iceland was no exception. Zsofie was a great travel director: well organised, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. She even kept a daily diary which she gave to each of us to help us remember all the wonderful places we saw and the exciting things we did. Thank you Zsofie!

Trip: Just enough variety. Some trips to see the falls were more strenuous than expected, but okay.l
Service: The guide was wonderful and provided several additional flourishes. Not so sure about the vodka, but the other things were great.
