What to Eat in Mediterranean and Southern Europe

Premium Dining on Every Tour

Think of Mediterranean food and Southern Europe food as cousins, not siblings. Though you’ll enjoy similar seafood dishes along the azure waters of the Med, expect the rich history of the interior cities to introduce mountainous and farm-fresh ingredients.

Try pintxos and Txakoli wine, a Basque alternative to the tapas and sangria in Andalucia. Bacalao salted cod and pigs trotters pair great with this very dry white wine.

Bouillabaisse, the fish soup that’s full of flavour, is a staple of Provence cuisine. Try it multiple times, as bouillabaisse in Marseille and Avignon may include different ingredients.

Of the many pastas you’ll try in southern and central Italy, pasta e ceci is a lesser known traditional Southern Europe food you should taste. It’s small tube-shaped pasta in a brothy chickpea stew.
