What to Eat in Czech Republic

Premium Dining on Every Tour

Czech Republic food is very similar to the food found in neighboring Austria and Poland. Goulash, sauerkraut soup, potato pancakes, and schnitzel are all prevalent. Say yes to rajská omáčka: a sweet tomato sauce ideal for dousing over Prague food favourites.

Among the soups served in Czechia is Česnečka, or garlic soup. The scent is heavy in this bowl filled made with broth, filled with croutons and a raw egg cooked in the liquid.

Vepřo knedlo zelo is a national dish and a great representation of wholesome Czech Republic food. Roast pork, dumplings, and sauerkraut create a meal often shared around Czech tables.

Like its neighboring countries, Czechia has its own version of the potato pancake: Bramboráky. Bramboráky is a crispy, savoury treat you’ll certainly find on a Prague food tour at restaurants and street markets.

Did You Know?

The stone statues on Prague’s Charles Bridge are replicas.

The Charles Bridge is one of the best places in the Czech Republic for photo ops, thanks to the pedestrian-only bridge’s dazzling architectural style and views of medieval Prague. Across its 30 pillars are statues of just as many saints, including the country’s patron saint, St. John of Nepomuk. To prevent further weather damage, the original statues were gradually removed and replaced with replicas. You will find the originals in the National Museum.
